2010 OPERA GALA

Enjoy an afternoon hearing some of the best arias in the operatic repertoire sung by some of the best singers in our region, including the return of the prestigious Adler Fellows of San Francisco Opera. The concert is preceded by a pleasant reception at Oak Valley Community Bank at 12:00, where you can enjoy hearty appetizers, wine, and fun with friends.

DON PASQUALE

In this Italian comedy about love and family squabbling, follow the story of a petulant old uncle that marries a young woman to cut his nephew out of his will, not knowing he has been set up by his nephew and doctor! In its first performances at Townsend Opera, this production of Don Pasquale will be set in a 1950's Italian-American, Brooklyn neighborhood.

ROMEO AND JULIET

Gounod's powerful setting of the classic Shakespearian love story features unforgettable melodies set to sumptuous harmonies.  Experience this timeless and tragic love story set to some of the most passionate music in the operatic repertoire in its first ever performances at Townsend Opera.

 

MADAME BUTTERFLY
 

In this masterpiece of lush, operatic Orientalism, experience Puccini's story about a young Japanese geisha's undying love for a charismatic by callous American sailor and the ultimate sacrifice she is compelled to make.

 

 
 

Hansel and Gretel

Join us for our annual production of Hansel and Gretel.  This community-based production takes place in the black box theater at the Townsend Opera Players office, and is perfect for families with children.
